AWCI Library Rules

Membership, Privileges

1: Library services and resources will be made available to following membership categories as per approved scale. Details are as under :-

Teaching faculty (Permanent | visiting)  : 08 Books | 60 Days

Loan period may be extended to the entire semester provided required to teach a course in the current semester). Books are required to be re-issued after each semester even if the same courses are assigned to a faculty member.

Students : 08 Books | 30 Days (Renewable)

 Administrative Staff : 02 Books | 14 Days

Circulation

2: Renewal of borrowed items. Items borrowed in regular category may be renewed for additional period (as per conditions for that category) provided no other user has requested reservation for the same. Overdue material shall not be re-issued. If borrowed material is urgently required in the library, it may be called back by the librarian. Librarian may withhold / restrict circulation of any material for specific purpose. Re-issuance on telephone or through e-mail is not allowed.

3: Reservation. Books and other material checked out by any other member can be requested to be put on reservation. On receiving the material back, library informs requester to collect the same. Reservation is considered cancel if reserved item is not collected within two working days.

4: Not to be Issued | To be consulted with in the library premises.

  • Reference Material such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, Yearbooks etc.
  • All works marked reference
  • All works permanently / temporarily marked reserved.
  • All un-processed/ under process material.
  • Theses, IRPs, pamphlets, etc.
  • Current issues of Journals / Magazines cannot be borrowed. Nonetheless, back issues can be borrowed for 03 days only. It holds good for all categories of membership

Note : Categories mentioned above may be issued on recommendation of Dean / HOD in temporary loan category (i.e. 2/3 hours, etc).

5: Fines. Library users having overdue items of information will be levied a prescribed fine.

6: Loss of books. If borrowed material is damaged, destroyed or lost, borrower will be asked to submita replacement. In case a book is out of print or not available in Pakistan through normal means, a fine which may be levied up to three times the current publisher rate of the original material. In case an item or book which is part of a set is lost or damaged, the borrower will make payment of the complete set. If a book declared lost (for the purpose of fine) is produced by the borrower after fine is charged, 50 % of the amount may be excused by the

Library Timings

7: The library shall follow the routine working hours of the Institute.

  • Monday – Thursday 0800 Hrs to 1700 Hrs
  • Friday 0800 Hrs to 1300 Hrs
  • Library remains closed on weekends and Gazetted holidays.
  • Library may extend its service hours if required. The request shall be routed through DS Plans a day prior.

General Rules

8: Following rules are to be observed by all members of the Library

  • COMPLETE SILENCE MUST BE OBSERVED IN THE LIBRARY.
  • Mobile phone calls are not allowed. Phones / smart watches must be must be set on “Silent Mode”
  • Library User Card (RFID) is must to avail self-issuance / return of Books or other material.
  • The member is responsible to take care of any material borrowed on
    his / her card.
  • Users must not write in, damage, or vandalize any item / furniture of the library. Tearing out of pages or damaging of reading material or furniture, etc is strictly prohibited. The responsible person may be charged fine up to three times of the actual cost of the item.
  • Members must leave their personal belongings outside the library entrance.
  • Members may be asked to submit any book or other object for inspection on demand.
  • Eating, sleeping, smoking, and loud conversation within library premises are not allowed. The member may be asked to leave the library premises in such a case.
  • In case of misuse of library equipment / furniture / services / facilities, the librarian is authorized to suspend library facilities.
  • The library shall not receive any telephone call or mail or message on behalf of any reader/ member. Students are not allowed to use library telephone.

The library accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal property in the library at any time.
