Air Command and Staff Course (AC & SC)

The AC & SC has been instituted in the PAF as an in-service intermediate level professional military education, where officers are prepared to assume duties and positions of mid-tier command and staff appointments. During the course, leadership and command skills are specifically focused and knowledge of Airpower employment is enhanced by imparting concepts of military doctrine and strategy for effective employment of Airpower at the operational level of war in a joint campaign.

A blended approach is adopted in AC & SC by combining Distance Learning component (one year) with a resident program (currently three months with plans to enhance to six months in future). The distance learning component is designed to focus on Staff Studies, International Relations, Leadership and Resource Management, Airpower and Research modules. The resident component is structured into four modules with an aim to ensure attainment of course desired learning objectives: –

The resident module also includes Exercises Air Raids, Battles and Vision.

  • Consolidate leadership / officer-ship qualities to undertake mid-level staff assignments.
  • Consolidate writing, communication, critical and creative thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills needed to anticipate and recognize change.
  • Comprehension of organizational structure, elements and their practical functioning in PAF.
  • Consolidate leadership / officer-ship qualities to undertake mid-level staff assignments.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills needed to anticipate and recognize change.
  • Comprehend the influence of leadership, history, technology, and theory on the evolution of airpower.
  • Introduction to the concept of national security, instruments of national power and supporting policies.
  • Introduction to strategic environment and its effects on Pakistan`s National Security.
  • Introduction to principles of war, Airpower Doctrine and the relationship between current military and Airpower doctrine.
  • Understand the interrelationships among the strategic, operational, and tactical levels of war.
  • Comprehend the influence of leadership, history, technology, and theory on the evolution of airpower.
  • Comprehension of organizational structure, elements and their practical functioning in PAF.
  • Introduction of war fighting domains including the space and cyberspace.
  • Introduction to operational art, operational design and air campaign planning for multi-domain operations.
  • Understanding the concept of “Joint Operations” in the entire range of military operations
